Well if I'm not kept up by the poison oak during the night I am by cramps instead. The steroid medicine I've been prescribed works well during the day but wears off about 12 hours later. I was also given a prescription anti histamine but it doesn't work so well.

So before the winter holidays started, I don't really remember what went on other than me going to Florida in November. Not too much. What I've always liked about San Jose State is the semester system which I knew I would like a whole lot better than the quarter system. I'm not sure if all CSUs are like this, but San Jose State has this "winter session" that goes on actually between Fall Semester and Spring Semester. Most programs don't have classes offered in winter session so it equals a longer break for us.

I had to watch Burns while my parents went to Colorado for a week. At the same time for 3 days in a row I was recruited to help Jenn's grandma's Honey Baked Ham store during their Christmas rush where they get a ton of business. The work was horrible. I would say that among all the jobs I've ever done, this is probably the 2nd or 3rd worst only because it went on for 3 days and not longer (though the worst job went on for just under 2 weeks I believe). Everyone there was very nice, which helped considering there were some huge douchebags in that Fire Works store I worked at in Florida (the 2 week job).

The job mostly involved me helping to wrap hams in tin foil and lug them to the freezer (about 10 feet away). I'm not used to being on my feet for 12 hours a day, my less carrying heavy hams almost the entire time so it really sucked. I knew the feet would recover fairly quickly, and they did, but the back and neck ache took about 2 weeks to recover from and I was really paranoid I gave myself some kind of permanent injury. I used a variety of therapy pads to help treat it. Some worked better than others.

Justin came over as soon as the Ham Store job was done. I don't think we really did much of anything because I really can't remember anything that we did other than play Donkey Kong. We went to the arcade once in Santa Rosa and once in San Jose and that is probably all that we really did!

At some point in the last few months, either in November or December, I went to visit [livejournal.com profile] soicjuabba in Davis. That visit coincided with this tour of the State Archives I wanted to go to. The tour was really cool and it looks like a really fun place to work. I love huge archives like that. They had this really secret vault which we weren't allowed to go into. I wonder if the archivists even have access to it. It had stuff like the gun that shot Senator Kennedy in it.

Since [livejournal.com profile] soicjuabba lives close to Sacramento, we went to Sutter's Fort, a very old historical settlement founded by John Sutter in the mid 1800s. It became famous as gold was discovered not far from there but actually the gold rush ended up somehow being very detrimental to the Fort and Sutter had to leave. He didn't manage his finances well. It was really cool and I've wanted to go there for a long time.

I can't think of anything else right now, so I leave you with pics from the cat show I went to this weekend. http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v326/MajesticArcanine/Cat%20Show%201-29-11/

Idol has sucked into my LJ time significantly so instead of trying to recollect what's been happening over the last months like I have been for quite a while, I'll have to do it for two months.

Let's start with the present. I went hiking last Sunday all by my lonesome because I really wanted to check out this cool park and I didn't think that I could get one of my two friends down here to come with me. I haven't seen Jeferry since my psychotic incident was starting up late last September. It would be nice to catch up with him.

So while I made it to the top of this hill and had a very nice scenic view of the valley/mountains at the park as well as a view of the city from the top, I managed to contract poison oak somewhere. Poison oak really sucks and I'm rather susceptible to it. Whenever I get it, I never even notice the poison oak anywhere and I only realize that I have it when the rash starts breaking out all over my face. It always hits my face the worst. I had to miss work and our meeting (which sucks because I like going to meetings) on Wednesday because I woke up and my face was so horribly swollen that I had to call the doctor to get on some steroids quickly. The steroid has helped with the itching and swelling significantly. At night it wears off and I have a prescription antihistamine to take then, but it isn't as strong as the steroid. The last time this happened was when I was in Santa Cruz and "hiking" on up to class about... 4 years ago maybe.

Seems like me and Trista are going to a cat show this weekend. That would be fun. I'd love to look at all the pretty cats, even if I can't pet them : ).

The next thing I should mention is that I've been having fun at game night for the last several months I've been going. I discovered it through [livejournal.com profile] testing4l and the basically dead Santa Cruz LJ communities. I knew that it had been going on for a while but I never got a chance to go to it in Santa Cruz and then I found out that it moved down here to a Dennys 10 mins away from me so it's pretty cool. It is held on the worst day of the week for me, a Tuesday, mostly because it's a very exhausting day for me. I am always sleep-deprived on that day and dad bothers me about going. He hates that I go because he's over protective and hates that I'm out doing this till midnight some nights. He has actually called me there at midnight and told me to come home. He always says the same thing "Don't talk to hobos". As if hobos hang around Dennys late at night. Maybe they do, but I guess not at that one.

Anyway so I generally like playing all the games there. What's funny is I suck most at the standard cards-related games. We played a trick card game once and my score hovered around -30 points the entire game XD. What I like playing most is board games, but that doesn't bode well with some. There is one person there who is really bad at learning new games and doesn't understand "complicating" games too well and also Trista doesn't like playing long games either. So sometimes I have to wait until most people to go home to play a "long" game. I invited Trista to come along and she invited Lindsey, her intern to come and Lindsey invited her new boyfriend so now it's generally become the 6 of us. Justin really wanted to go to game night when he was here, but since we were stuck in Santa Rosa at the time, it was too inconvenient to go. Hopefully he can get the chance to sometime.

For games, I have been playing the new Donkey Kong Country Returns on the bootleg system Justin helped me set up for my wii. It was a fairly difficult game if you wanted to try to get a high percentage like I did (got the max 200%) . Literally some levels I had to do over 200 times. I don't know how I have the patience to do these things, but somehow I do. I'm a completionist with some games, but not usually. The DKC series for the SNES is probably my favorite VG series ever and there was a lot of nostalgia involved. There were a lot of things I didn't like about DKC Returns, but I stuck it out and overall I thought this was a great way to bring back the series.

It took me about a month to get the 200% so I started Monster Hunter Tri last week. It is very addicting but it's probably the most complicated game I have ever played. I'm not really used to RPGs like it and there are a lot of things to do and one of the main reasons I find it so complicating is because it's HEAVILY item-based and the game offers you little help with what to do with all the items. You have to learn as you go along. I hate to rely on game guides but I have had to more times than I like for this game because it would be too frustrating to go on without them. I have even e-mailed a FAQ writer to ask a question which I've never done.

Class just started up yesterday. I don't remember if I mentioned this but due to some blunder, I have to do one more class. At least I finished my final project and got it approved. Hopefully the class I chose will be ok. I ended up switching from another class. There are 4 people in it including me.

Alright I'm bored of updating and itching to play Monster Hunter so I'll have to continue at another time. Hopefully not in like a month because then I'll have to remember what I did for December- February.
