BACK TO THE GRIIIND

zaichikarkyGuh not entirely happy being back at work after having a week off.
Justin and I finally watched "Your Name". I realize I get Makoto Shinkai confused with another director, Mamoru Hosada who did Wolf Children, Girl Who Lept Through Time, and Summer Wars. Shinkai has done 5 cm per Second, Hoshi no Koe, and Your Name. I realize I haven't watched as many of Shinkai's features as I thought. My favorite is Hoshi no Koe, but Your Name is just so good, it actually might be better. Man I remember when I watched Hoshi no Koe back in 2003. It was an amazing 30 min (or maybe a little less) flick that he did entirely on his own. He made it on his Macintosh back in 2000 and provided the voice for the male character while his wife was the female character. Later, the voices were changed for the version most people have seen. I really fell in love with it, and he's done a lot since, but not until Your Name did anything truly contend with the brilliance of Hoshi no Koe. Your Name was just so stunning, it didn't fail to disappoint. I can't wait to see what Hosada and Shinkai do next.
However, I heard that J.J. Abrams was doing a live action American version of Your Name. Ugh that sounds so awful, I hope it gets shelved. I mean honestly there are excellent American versions of mangas, but they are few and far between. The only one I can think of right off the top of my head is "Edge of Tomorrow". J.J. Abrams is known for doing super action-filled space operas. Your Name is not anything like that! People just need to... not try to remake things.
I've been obsessed with the new Animal Crossing cellphone game "Pocket Camp". Are any of you playing that? I've actually never played Animal Crossing before. I tried one of the games on the DS too... I think it bores me. The cellphone game is all about fetch quests. It's addictive. I heard it maxes out at level 30 though, and just from playing this weekend I'm almost at level 30. I guess I'll stop until they make more levels lol.
