Hee. I did another campus tour with the outreach program I work with. I wasn't going to do it at all until the campus tour oranizer girl called me and was like

"can you come do this tour"
"No, I'm afraid I have to work at the schools during that time ;_;"
"Can you come do the tour instead of going to the school for tuesday?"
"YES."
"Seriously?"
"Yeah. I love giving tours and it's exciting because they're elementary student and I work with them."
"Omg you're great call your boss and tell her."

It was a pain getting a hold of my boss, though. She actually called me up about an hour before the tour was about to start and I was supposed to be in the elementary school by 8 am. The tour had started at 9:45.

So this time the kids were from San Jose. It was a mix of about ~30-40% Asain and 60% Latino.

This time I was also graced with having the rowdy bunch. I swear, I'm lucky that I'm good with kids and I'm glad that some of the other tour guides didn't get my group because they would have had a hellish experience XD. I knew one of the tour guides because she is the badminton club president. She's very nice and likes working with Filipino(why the hell is it spelled Filipino btw?) kids but decided she didn't like working with big groups of kids. heh.

I was happy/lucky that this time I only had 9 kids and one chaperone. Breaking them down:

-2 Latina girls who behaved excellently and were overall excited to be out in the rain and going up muddy hills.
--3 Asian girls. Two of whom were very whiney but cute handful
-One boy who was a handful
-4 other boys who generally were pretty well-behaved.

The first last tour I gave was in the rain. That time I had something like ~20-30 middle schoolers. I suffered the same exact problems at first.

"OMG WE CAN'T BE IN THE RAIN. CAN WE TAKE A BUS? OMG WHEN WILL WE GET TO THE LI-BRARRRRY. WE DON'T WANT TO GO BACK TO THE RAIN!!!"

this time, after about the first 10 minutes the overall whining about that stopped. Especially since I promised them that the eventual destination was the library and it would be "an adventure" getting there and if they wanted to go into the woods, they had to go through the rain.

The cutest Asian girl reminded me somewhat of a more girly me in that age. She was hyper as hell and obsessed over my keychains. Little did I know all of them(even the hispanic boys 0___o) were watching Inuyasha, Full Metal Alchemist, and Naruto on Cartoon Network. Oh right, and after I found out her name was Lina, I automatically thought of Lina Inverse. She actually did remind me of her in a scary way >____<. She was very cute, though. Past all the whining about being in the rain. lol.

Eventually the girls came upon Winry when looking at all my keychains. Lina loved the little Shippo and Inuyasha ones the most btw(Justin gave me those :p). lol.

"Omg who's she? She looks kinda familiar"
"I don't like the show she's from, but I think she's really cute, so I got that."
"What show?"
"Full Metal Alchemist"
Suddenly this piqued all their interest.

The most well-behaved of the Asian girls, also who was my favorite one <3, was like "oh, I don't understand that show very much. Why does that guy with the metal arm call that robot his sister?"

That made me laugh but then I had to explain.

"Uh well... it's kinda a long story . What happened was that the kid with the metal arm practices magic. A long time ago, when he was a kid, that 'robot' was actually his brother, not sister. They were both humans. One day, their mother died. They were really sad and decided to try a kind of dangerous magic to bring her back to life. The magic was very bad though and their mother didn't get brought back to life. The little brother, the robot, was sacrificed. The big brother tried to save him by putting his soul into that metal which his now him."

This kind of stumped them but they were understanding more. Then one of the boys was like "WHAT HAPPENED TO THE MOTHER?"

"I think she kind of turned into some kind of monster."

"OMGGG. TELL US MORE ABOUT THIS."

Then I couldn't because that's all I can explain about the show.

Then Tiffany, the nice girl was like "So why how they do magic to bring their mother back to life?"

"The magic that they use is called 'alchemy', that is why the show is called 'Full Metal Alchemist' because both the boys are alchemists."

Actually I do remember why exactly it's "full metal alchemist" even. Well, maybe somewhat :p. But I didn't want to go through that. Lina then said that her favorite character in Inuyasha was Kagome. .... I just told them all that my favorite character was Shippo and that was that :p.

Anyway, so I finally did get them through the woods to the library. All of them were hell-bent on using the computers. Most of them didn't have much computer experience. Lina's friend was like

"omg her brother hogs the computer!"
"So how old is your brother, Lina?"
"13 and all he does is play game on the computer!!"
"You're too young to have free reign of the internet anyway"

I doubt her brother is any better, though. 13-year-old-boys and the internet do go together very well. One time in the Fruits Basket Rating Community, this *9* year old posted her profile. ZOMG. She was really mature, it surprised me 0_o. So I kind of feel better about younger girls on the internet.

Anyway, all the girls went on Neopets for the 10 minutes I let them use the computer. I guess I'm not surprised that 11 year olds are obsessed over neopets XD. I wouldn't know because 2 of my friends are hardcore into it and they're not 11 :p. Just like the Harry Potter thing, I guess.

They really wanted to take a bus, so I thought it would be a good idea to do that.

In the meantime, the rowdiest kid... oh, I guess not all of them were Hispanic/Asian because this kid was white, kept picking on this guy because he was the only one smart enough to bring an umbrella and he kept calling him "Mary Poppins". I told him to knock it off but hell if he was going to listen to me :p.

So the fat kid(one who was being made fun of) kept hitting the white kid with his umbrella and then backpack. I hadn't been paying much attention to the boys because they were always at the back running around and the chaperone was back there.

Next thing I know, the chaperone calls me back and I find the white kid on the ground crying and bleeding. Omg PANIKKK. I eventually deduced it down to a nose bleed(something I'm very unfamiliar with because I've literally never had a nose bleed before) and went to get a bunch of napkins- both wet and dry ones. We had tried to tell the kid to lift his nose up and pinch it so it'd stop bleeding, but he was crying and shaking so much that I thought it might be best to just let him calm down first. So I told the chaperone to take the kids back(and there was a group nearby and they'd been crowding him) and left the kid with me. Thankfully, a very nice male student helped me out by taking the kid into the bathroom and cleaning him up.

So what happened was that the fat kid either snapped(or managed to actually do some damage this time 0_o) and hit the boy in the face with his backpack and the backpack had books in it :|. I kinda thought it was an accident in that the fat kid didn't mean to make the rowdy kid get a nose bleed.

So I took their names down and told their teachers. The fat kid was really upset too when his teacher came to talk to him :|. I felt sorry for both of them. Their teacher was this really short, really strict guy. I thought he was some kind of disciplinarian or chaperone because last time I had a very similar kind of lady come with me and she wasn't their teacher.

Lunch was pretty fun, though.

I did the student panel at the end and Tiffany gave me a big hug ^_^. She was very cute and I can't believe she knew what "Anthropology" meant! None of the Junior High Schoolers I was with last time knew what it meant. She was also very calm and thoughtful. At that age, I was basically a dorkier/way more tomboyish version of Lina. She was very intelligent and a bit nerdy.

Also the kids all got backpacks with dictionaries in them... the dictionary was probably what made the kid's nose bleed :|. I think they got different dictionaries because Tiffany got a Spanish one and was like "omg now I can learn Spanish! My mom wants me to learn Philipino(is that what the language is called? I thought it had another name) cause I can't speak it."

That's all for now. Hmm I miss Ashes. he's running around in the rain. Rain or shine, he doesn't care most of the time 0_o. Usually he only comes back when he's hungry. I've looked for him before when I've been worried about him... but I'm not doing that since it's raining :p.

You could have told them about equivalent exchange and that their mother is now a Pus spewing Ogan pile; a sin against God. However I know even less about FMA than you. I got that from a VG Cats comic. Ahem.

Also, snapping crazy fat kid for the win. Mary Poppins my ass, who's the dry one out in the rain now, skinnny bastard? Also ahem.

I think that the rest of the series evolved from this one event and about how the event of transmuting thier mother created some evil characters that are met later on in the series. Quite a few of which are very disturbing. It was well before that point that I decided that FMA is one of the crappiest anime fads of the millenium. I also didn't tell them about the mother any further because I said "it's innapropriate." the same answer I gave later on in the day to the nosebleed kid when some dumbass from Porter was like "THE REVOLUTION HAS BEGUN".

"omg what does that mean?"
"umm... uh. well... do you know what politics mean?"
"yeah."
"it has to do with that."
"why can't you just tell us what it means?"
"it's innapropriate."

gr. all of them were in the rain other than the fat kid. It's not nice swinging backpacks at kids for teasing you and making their noses bleed. It reminds me exactly of what I did to this violent kid back in 4th grade.

He called me some name(maybe?) so I called him Randal-sandle and made up a bunch of stupid names related to Randal. He was a very violent kid and kicked me eventually . The teacher saw that and so we get sent to the principal's office. My mom's called up and freaked out because she thought that they'd said something about my "knees" from "tease". She didn't know what "tease" means. In Russia, she literally *beat up* boys for picking on her. Eventually no boy ever said a word against her and I don't think she ever got in trouble for it. So she didn't understand why the principal was calling her up for me picking on the dumbass.

Of course he got in more trouble for kicking me. *win*.

The point of this story is, both sides are at fault, not the rowdy kid for teasing. "Randal Sandle" and "Mary Poppins" are rather common kinds of elementary school teasing.

I'm glad Randal didn't make my nose bleed. jeez. poor kid.
