So I've taken to watching My Little Ponies now and I like the show. This is the first American animated series I've watched in a LONG time. I don't even really remember when I last enjoyed an American animated series. It's really cute and clever. I used to watch the specials and movies as a kid so it's really interesting to see how well-made the show has been re-invented.
What I DON'T like is the whole Brony community. They've basically taken over the fandom and they're kind of obnoxious. They've more or less excluded female fans of the show and the conventions are called "Brony cons". So it's like female fans really don't matter. It's interesting with the MLP franchise because never has a show interacted and supported its fans in the way MLP has. Take Derpy for example. The /b/-tards went crazy over a background pony who was a mistake and all of a sudden she's a fun easter-egg featured in the show and really one of the most popular characters out there.
So Bronies? Don't support them. For one, they all came from 4-chan. What's wrong with just being a fan of the show? Why does it have to matter so much to be a male fan of the show. It's kind of unusual, but I know plenty of guys who like shows marketed towards the female audience. I don't see why Bronies have to assert themselves as being different and act like they're so special. They're not. They need to all go back to 4-chan where they belong.

Date: 2012-08-15 04:43 pm (UTC)I take the term "brony" to be completely unisex though. Girls can guys can both be like that.
Though...one thing I don't like is the term "pegasister" -winces-
And if you think Derpy is bad enough, see how much Vinyl Scratch has escalated.
What did DJ-Pon3 do?...they appeared for a few seconds in one episode, and nodded their head a few times and that was it. In the whole of MLP. (though they stuck them in the season finale of season 2 for a few more seconds, probably for fanservice)
And there are guys who've made DJ-Pon3 as their car registration plates...
I don't really notice the fandom anyway. I just love the show and paint rainbows around the corners of my mind. =)

Date: 2012-08-15 05:00 pm (UTC)I'm allllmost done with the first season.I can't wait to see the second season premiere because John DeLancie is in it!!!! That was one thing Lauren Faust was disappointed by. She really wanted to create more epic story arcs like the season premiers. It would be pretty fun to watch some more epic adventures like that.

Plus you get to see the ponies go insane again, and it's always good when they do that. :p
P.S. who's your favourite pony? :p I know people keep saying that. [avidpinkiepiefan]
