My life has been fairly uneventful lately, which is why I haven't been updating. I never did end up going to Otakon. Brian and I aren't speaking anymore at all. It might change sometime in the future, I don't know. If it does, I don't think we will be talking regularly. It's hard not having him in my life, but I've certainly been calmer because of it.

I go to game night about 3 times a week now. There is that same Wednesday location in Arlington, then someone told me about this club that meets in Silver Springs (nearby) in a diner. Everyone keeps complaining about the food at the diner but I don't think it's bad at all. Lots of Citadels! I loooove that game and I manage to win a good chunk of the time. Then I usually go once on the weekend.

Otherwise, I've been playing a lot of Xenoblade Chronicles which amuses me for hours every day. It's easy to get sucked into some rpgs. There are hundreds of subquests in this game and I just spend most of the time doing subquests and looking for stuff everywhere.

My grandma is not doing so well : (. She took another fall and this time she broke her hip. She had to be moved to hospice and I guess it was determined that she won't get surgery so she has to be bed-ridden for the rest of her life. I don't know why they won't give her surgery. I know she's very old and frail, but you'd think risking it is worth it considering how much she has to suffer for an undetermined amount of time. It really sucks.

A bit of good news is that Jeremy is coming to visit me on Friday. I've known Jeremy for 6 years now and we've never met, so this is very exciting! I'm so happy to finally meet him. He wanted to go to Alexandria and I wanted to go to Colonial Williamsburg. He'll only be around for the weekend, but it should still be a fun time.

Yes, she's the one in Santa Rosa. The one in Colorado is younger and healthier.

I'm so sorry to hear about your grandmother. I didn't know they could just decide to not give someone surgery after an injury like that. It doesn't really seem in line with the Hippocratic oath to me.

I almost think that dad should try to find a second opinion about that. i think the risk would be worth it to not be bedridden for the rest of her life and unable to move.

I think that he should find second, and may be third opinion, but ultimately, it should be your grandmother's choice.

And what if the risk of her not surviving was over, idk, 75-80%?

They said that they can't do surgery because she has some kind of blood condition that won't let her accept new blood. So she will just die if she gets surgery :/. All medical decisions have been given to my father because she's not really mentally competent to make decisions like that.

Sorry to hear they won't give your Grandma surgery. I don't even know what I'd do if I were told I was being confined to bed for the rest of my life :(

Well she is very old and senile so I'm not sure she'll really comprehend it. It's still a very drastic thing, though. She doesn't have a lot of time left : (.

I'm sorry to hear about your grandma. It's a difficult thing, watching them age and seeing how they change with time. I pray she gets better and that they are able to help her.

Very sorry to hear about your grandmother. It's awful that surgery isn't on the table as an option.
