NYC December 2011
Apr. 16th, 2012 03:48 pmUnlike most things, I never really did end up writing down this trip in a notebook, so I'm just going to have to go by memory right now. We also ended up taking a bazillion pics, so if my memory is foggy, I can look at those even though at the moment I really don't want to do that ~_~.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This trip started immediately upon my return to the NYC area after my birthright trip. I planned a trip to NYC partially because I really wanted to hang out with Brian, and partially because I thought it'd be convenient to do it since I had to fly in and out of the NYC area anyway.
So sometime before I left Israel, Brian insisted on picking me up from the airport. I told him I'd be really tired and want to sleep immediately upon hotel arrival (sometime around 5 pm) so I'd rather not, but he insisted so I gave in.
For some reason or another he was late by like an hour... half an hour? He left me this long voice mail that day which I actually didn't really even hear until very recently when I was going through my voicemails to delete stuff. I guess the reason for him being late was because he forgot Risk (I think that was it) at home and went back to get it XD;. Oh, and also because he went to the liquor store to get a bunch of vodka for us. I think he was disappointed that I didn't end up getting drunk, oh and we never ended up playing Risk because I liked Magic the Gathering enough for us to spend most of the time in the hotel playing that. I still have yet to play Risk >_<. One of these days...
Anyway, so he wanted to talk on the phone while I was waiting for him at the airport. I was kind of out of it because I was so tired, but eventually we hung up and he showed up.
The hotel was only a few mins from JFK which was nice... His phone died RIGHT before we were there, so we stopped at some gas station to ask for directions and the guy was like "yeah, it's right there, just keep going down this street..." The weather was kind of horrible that day, so I was worried it would be the rest of the time we were there, but actually it was fine. Cold, but not raining at least.
So we get into the hotel room and there is literally a hole in the middle of the wall. I guess the vent was exposed. It really bothered him, so he managed to get the vent over it. LOL. The hotel was ok. I've been in worse. Though I've been in worse for like 40 dollars a night and not 90, but whatever.
I wanted to go to sleep immediately. I'm pretty sure he wanted to talk for hours because he... likes to talk, but then he said he'd just go to sleep. The rest of the time I was there, I slept very badly because I don't like sleeping with anyone. By that, I mean, I don't like sleeping in the same ROOM as anyone, much less bed. I was able to save myself like 60 bucks by getting a king bed instead of two queens and asked him if that was ok and he said I'd be stupid not to do it. I don't remember much else that happened the rest of that night.
The next day, we basically went shopping all day. I heard from TG the previous night that he recommended we go to the Pokemon Center (which at some point became the Nintendo World Store). We found it easily and took a bunch of pics in there. He said later it disappointed him, but I'm not quite sure what he was expecting. I expected it to be just like it was. I like this pic of me and teh FIYR POKAYMON!

After that, we went to the World's Biggest Macy*s. I think it was something like... 8 stories?? And also to a jeans store (Levis I think) because he wanted to get new pants. I was really sick of shopping by the end of it because I hate shopping.
The next day, I believe, was our failed attempt to go to Central Park. We got on the wrong train to go to Central Park and instead were on the train to go to Brighton Beach, which is the Russian Neighborhood in Brooklyn. Instead of getting back on the right train, I told him we should just end up going to Brighton Beach LOL. He didn't mind that idea, so we sat on the train for like an hour getting there, and an hour getting back.
The first thing we did is wander into an Opteka (pharmacy) where we spent a very long time because he was fascinated by the herb selection there and wanted to try to figure out what like... all of them were XD. We could only figure out a few of them and he ended up buying some Valerian root. After that, I told him I wanted to find the beach so we found it easily. The beach was actually pretty unpleasant because it was SO COLD AND WINDY. But I saw a wharf that LOOKED like it was close, so I told him I wanted to walk there. By the time we got to this wharf, the sun was setting XD;.
I was really hungry by then, and he seemed interested enough in finding a Russian restaurant, so we found one on his iphone and walked there. I don't think he liked Russian food at all, but he very emphatically told me that he tried everything so it's not like I could get offended :3. I wouldn't be offended anyway. A lot of people find Russian food very bland. I think the reason he didn't like it was because he found it too greasy...? I don't know, exactly, but it doesn't really matter.
We spent the long train ride back playing riddle games which was very fun.
We got back to ... somewhere in Manhattan and then I guess I got the idea to visit the Empire State Building that night (it closed very late). SO THEN we spend like an hour trying to get into the Chrysler Building because I'm dumb and thought it was the Empire State Building XD. We were like "derp, where's the entrance???" Eventually, we made it to the Empire State Building around 10 pm.
We make it to the top and it was very fun! I really loved the skyline at night, even though it would have been nice to check it out in the day too. He also ended up kissing me up there, which was pretty cute.

I plan on writing Part II very soon. Tomorrow, maybe.
