Pre-Colorado trip and Colorado trip
Dec. 16th, 2006 10:16 pmphew I STILL glad finals are done with. I probably mentioned I slept an average of 4 hrs per night for the last 2 weeks before finals. I think next time I'm going to opt to spend an extra day studying/writing my finals instead of having an extra day of vacation. I had to literally get them all done by Monday, and I couldn't do it :P. I ended up getting two done, and then arriving in santa rosa at about 3 in the morning, sleeping for 4 hrs, and then doing my easiest final. My final for the Native American class was 9 pages and I didn't write the last question very well. I typing it up until just shortly before the computer lab closed and I was too tired and ran out of time. The final was also 60% of my grade XD. I did end up getting a B for the class. I got an A- for the other class, and the 400+ student anthro 1 class's grade is still not up even though it was "due" on the 12th.
Grades for huge classes often take longer. That grade is really the wild card since I have no idea how I did on that Neanderthal essay as well as my final, both of which were worth 60% of my grade. I studied a lot for that test and spent all 3 hours working on it. I'm so glad that is the last Freshman class I will take. I haven't taken a Freshman class since literally I was a sophomore, so it was a big step backwards for me -_-. There are a lot of stupid things that went on with the exam, but I don't feel like complaining about it now. Just one thing(I didn't even find too irritating). The prof didn't allow drinking water during the exam and when all the freshman started complaining she said "If you can't hold your bladder for 3 hours, you should go see a doctor immediately". I actually do have urological problems where at times i need to at least drink at least half a liter of water or else i could get very sick, but thankfully I didn't during the exam.
So literally right after I finished my last take home final and e-mailed it(even though the prof preferred it not to be e-mailed) I went to see the ophthalmologist and found out that my vision hasn't changed, even though I refused to take the glaucoma test where puffs of air are shot in your eyes. I hate that goddamn thing. oh well, I should be getting my new frame right when I get back home. No more using this emoframe from when i was 15 cause I lost my newest pair of glasses in the lake XD.
So then i flew to Colorado and spent time with Grandmas... not much happened other than them spoiling me : ).I got a bunch of money from both grandmas as well as my great uncle. Grandma Sofa(my elder one) and i went to see "Bobby" which was this movie about the assassination of ROBERT(Bobby) Kennedy. It wasn't really even a documentary as much as it was a political movie about the political climate of the time. The whole time we thought the movie was about the assassination of President Kennedy. They just look so much alike ^_^*. I thought it was the younger brother at certain parts of the movie, but then I was like "oh naw it's just president Kennedy when he was younger". Emilo Estavez directed it too, as well as played a minor character in it, and I haven't seen him in anything since the mighty ducks ^_^*. He had a bunch of famous actors in it. Lindsey Lohan and Elijah Wood were married :p.
I also got this nice interview skirt which I will be using when i go do interviews for teaching programs in Japan. Grandma Sofa gave me this jacket that she bought because it was "too modern" for her and i really like it, despite it being puke green. I never wear anything puke green. It has a hoodie, though, and grandma Zina gave me a really cute purple fuzzy jacket that I like a lot : ).
One day I went to visit downtown Denver with my Great Uncle(photos at end). We went to the Colorado History museum and visited some sites in downtown. My digicam did not charge so it really sucked that I was unable to take any pics with it. I bought this really crappy non-flash disposable cam at the museum, and apparently none of the museum pics i took turned out :|. That's really disappointed, since I took cool pics in there. Most of the rest of the pics that my great uncle took , he took very badly, so I'm posting just a few of them.
The last night I was there, my uncle took me to see two different light shows. The hugely awesome one was at the Denver Botanical gardens, and the other was this crappy free one. I took lots of pics at the Botanical Gardens, but I'm too lazy to upload those right now :p.
That same day I went to the gym where my grandma Zina works. It's a huge Jewish fitness center which is really fancy. I always like to compare it to my 24hr fitness membership ^_^*.
It was somewhat hard being around my grandma Zina because like my 92 year old great uncle, she's a health FREAK, even moreso than my parents. With her 70th birthday approaching in July, I really hope she'll even outlive my great uncle. Unfortunately, she liked to shove all the health crap down my throat which i didn't want to listen. I get enough of it from my dad every single day, so i'm REALLY tired of it. Grandma Zina is a very bitchy woman XD. VERY bitchy. On the flip side of it, she's super friendly and has a lot of friends. She still has a huge attitude problem like my mom, though, and I thank god that at least she can't speak English so she can't embarrass me in public too much(even though she tried that ^_^*). My mom takes after her attitude in some ways, but I only hope that my mom will be getting CALMER as she ages, and not more bitchy. Grandma Zina gets really pissed off when she can't boss people around XD. She is extremely active and hates my "I like to sit around and play my games" attitude I have XD. I'm not very active and I don't like to spend my free time walking around and being healthy. She also follows an extremely strict diet and pretty much all of what she eats tastes like crap to me XD. We spent a lot of time arguing about why I won't eat what she eats. She is coming over to Santa Rosa for a month for her birthday and I honestly don't know why on earth she wants to do that because she will get sick of all of us after a WEEK XD. My mom and I were discussing her the other day and of course mom can't just say "don't come, mom, you won't like it". Grandma Zina is also very sensitive :p.
As for Grandma Sofa, she spoiled me and didn't bitch at me too much. Overall, she's much calmer than Grandma Zina, especially since she's 82. The only problem was her mobility issues because i had to do a lot of things for her and she'd command me around to get stuff even when I had no idea what it is ^_^*. She told me war stories for hours in the middle of the first night I was there. She really lead a remarkable life in the USSR, the kind of stuff you read about in biographies. It's just too bad I still didn't get a chance to hear war stories from my great uncle, he was the guerrilla fighter in the Red Army in WWII.
Overall I had a really nice time with grandmas and hopefully will make it back for another week sometime in the future : ).
Here are some pics:
Since the *)($#^#(*^ing riteaid didn't process pics i took with my grandmas, here is the only one I could find. Graduation 2003 0_o. http://www.geocities.com/the_magestic_arcanine/graduation4.txt . Haha, this was my pre-photobucket days when I showed pics online though that stupid geocities thing. Yeah, I don't think that will work anymore :p. oh well.

too bad it didn't turn around with both the pics we took.
That's my uncle Issac with his son in law, uncle Roma, the uncle who took me to the lights show. He's super nice. His wife is another story ^_^*. She suffers from depression and has anger issues. She's very nice to everyone other than her husband, though. hehe.

That same plaza has a lot of really nice-looking statues.

There are policewomen who ride on horses, harassing all the crackheads who live in the capital area. All my pics of the capital and the other big judicial building are not well-photographed :|.
