I've gathered all my notes from my trip and I'll just write them down here to make them semi comprehensible. I suggest that you slices that enjoy gathering useless bits of information into your heads read this... you might find some things that interest you....

Hmm... let's start with Manhattan...

Manhattan was originally settled by the Dutch and it was called "New Amsterdam" Amsterdam is the capital of Holland, heh. They bought it from the Iriquois Indians for 24$. It was a beaver trading post. In 1664, the British conquered it and turned it into "New York". The original York was Toronto... Later, it was called "Manhattan" because in Iriquois, apparently that meant "The Island of Hills". Heh. Some streets like "Wall Street" have specific meaning that go back way in the day. Wall Street was named for the Wall that separated the British and the Dutch. Broadway has a special meaning too... but I forgot that one. As for the name "The Big Apple", it has to do with a certain type of Jazz African Americans brought to the region... The name of the type of jazz was called "the big apple".

Now let's talk about some famous sights in NYC... the Brooklyn brigde was constructed in 1883. The transportation is limited on it- no big trucks, no buses... It was made of bedrock because steel wasn't yet invented. But hey, it stands strong still to this day, so it's fine ^_-. St. John's Cathedral is the largest cathedral in the world 0_o. And here, I thought it looked smaller than Notre Dam... . Guess I didn't write down when construction started, but it is *still* going on! I'm serious. Also, a pretty remarable thing happened on Sep 11th... when the world trade centers collapsed, St. John's cathedral was left unscathed, no windows even broke. And it was directly in back of the twin towers... central park was constructed in the 1840s... it is celebrating its 150 yr anniversary. It took 43 years to complete, and I see why... it was ver gorgeous 0_o. One of the nicest parks I've ever seen. Has thousands of different kinds of trees and BUSHES. It's very nice to walk through ^_^.

And now for some misc. that won't fit anywhere else. Most people think NYC is a very safe place to live, heh. And Mayor Rudy Julliani(sp?) made it even better, got rid of all the homeless people too, by forcing the police to take them into shelters. The UN was established in SFO, but got its headquarters in Manhattan because the Rokefeller family offered the UN freee land to create it. It apparently has the most complicated infastucture in the world... I wonder why. The Trump appartments are the most largest and probably most expensive in the world. Sorry, don't know the prices... NYC is concidered to be the fashion, financial, media and arguably cultural center of the US. And there is a 350 dollar fine for excessive honking XD. NYC has 9 million peole, but NY in general has 10 million. NY is called the "Empire State" becasue it was a term coined from George Washington. He was impressed by the forests there... heh. SO it's pretty vast country outside of NY... or maybe it was just honking in general ? 0_o. Let's now move onto....

CANADAR

70 percent of NY's power comes from niagra falls... Niagra falls is a good suicide place, lots of deaths there, heh... The story about the people going over in barrels if pretty cool.. The first person to do it was this 60 yr/old school teacher back in the late 1800s I think... But the most impressive story is that of a couple of kids that went boating out there in the 70s... their boat died and was going over the falls ^_^*. A girl was in a boat with her bf and her brother. The girl managed to get pulled to safety because of her hair(I guess she had really long hair 0_o), the boyfriend died going over the falls, but the brother remarkable survived because his light weight allowed him to get thrown past the dangerous rocks at the foot of the falls...

Canada itself has had quite a few capitals... I'm not sure what the first one was, but Niagra Lake. But in the was of 1812, the British invaded and destroyed that capital, so they moved it to Toronto, then Ottowa was established. 31 millions people likve in canada... that's the size of California, lol! But the land is mainly uninhabitable, so they like to spread themselves along the bottom borrder ^_-. It's supposed to be a huge immigrant country... and got its independance in 1931- and didn't even have to fight a war for it, those damn hippies. Anyway, they're also dependant on our economy because they export lots of stuff to us. 58 percent of Canadians have a PC. That's the larges tnumber in the world XD. I think TOronoto is the biggest city... 2.5 million... In Native American, Toronto meant "meeting point". So it must have been an important trade city. Toronto was originally called York and was built to keep the Americans from Canaa. The called tower in the world is found there, called the "CN tower". Was built in '76... The largest street in the world starts in Toronto, called "Young Street". It's 1880km and stretchs through all of Canada... KINGSTON, uh, Tuffieville, used to be the capital too...

And that is all I have : )

In other news, I've been played Ocarina of time. Haven't gotten stuck yet, wooo! Been through visiting Zelda for the first time... about to tackle my second dungeon. The first was pretty short and easy. It's a nice game, I wish I'd given it a second chance earlier. Before, I REALLY didn't like it, didn't know how to play it and all XD. Um, Tuffie got my warning percentage up to 99% right now, ALL ON HER OWN. I think she won our "Warning War" because I only got her to like 40.. bah. So I probably won't be able to come on for the rest of the day >:O. Whore.

Hm.. In 11th grade we read this piece about a young boy who made up a list of things he wanted to accomplish before he died. I think he had over 100 things, and he got like 90% of them accomplished. I've wanted to make one of those lists too... but now that I think about it, it's kinda silly. I only have a few goals I want to accomplish right now: go to Florida, graduate and get a good job, find someone who loves me.

There are some things I found out while vacationing... I realized that I'm just too used to the scenery/way of life in the north, and I wouldn't like to live in the south. This also goes for southern california- too crowded for me XD. I think the only way I can find myself living in the south is if I find a lover or something , but then I can try to wean him away to live up north with me XD. The North also goes for Canada, it seems like such a nice place to live ^_^. Very calm and quiet...

I've also thought about what I was looking to study in college. My parents and grandma are kinda hoping for the pharmacy route for me... but I am much more interested in foreign languages and History... preferably modern history. Then I could minor in Japanese... One day I would so love to be a history professor 0_o. Preferably for a Community college... that requires a lot of schooling though, I've heard ~_~. The problem with the foreign studies degree is that job placement is a big issue 0_o. I won't be able to find a job very easily....

That's pretty much it... latrz
