I'm bored, waiting for someone to come on, and have just Jeferry and this LJ at my disposal 0_o. I've been wanting to do this for a while, not it will not be as good because it doesn't have a concrete direction anymore. Oh well

When thinking of US leaders, we always look at their inadaquacies. What this president did that was so horrible, what they *didn't* do... It's hard for anyone to tell you who their favorite president is without thinking about their faults. My favorite President has always been good ole FDR, for a number of reasons. I first fell IN LOVE with the guy when I was 13 and visited his momoreal in Virginia. Then I reasearched him immensely. He fascinated me 0_o. I mean, the guy was like a king. He was a rich guy who contracted polio before he ran for presidency. He was bound to a wheel chair for the rest of his life... but this didn't stop him. He made *good* friends with the media, and they never showed him in his wheelchair until after he died. He tried to help those poor Americans with his "New Deal" plan, designed to give aid and attempt to get America on its feet. It helped a bit, but in reality, the only thing that got us out of the depression was the war boom on our industries. War did wonders for American economy back then, mind you. heh.But as I researched him further, I noticed some inadaquacies of my own. In 11th grade, I learned he did nothing when he knew about the Holocaust in Europe, years before it was pubically discovered. This year in JC history class, I learned how even though he supported African American Rights, he still did not work with Ida B. Wells and support an anti-lynching law. Also, he was an INSANE drinker, and this is probably what killed him shortly after WWII.This is all I know, this is all I dug up, I'm sure I can think of more. And my once idolized FDR was slowly becoming mortal to me... But I still like him, as a great man, and a great president.

See, people just have to understand what kind of country we live in. We're a rich mutha fucking super power. We could get *anything* we want, but we don't. Because even though it doesn't seem like it sometimes, we have *laws* that are called "Civil Rights" and *gasp* "CIVIL LIBERTIES". Some of you damn slices need to DISTINGUISH between the two of them. Dammit people, you fucking DON'T understand what you have the "right" to do, and what you have the "liberty" to do. I hate it when people can't distinguish this, I do... *ahem* anyway. SO our presidents are limited. They are not kings, after FDR, no president was allowed to run for office even a third time. So we are stuck with a "ruler" for 8 years at most. These "rulers" we have here in the states are not perfect men. Being the President of the United States is one of the hardest jobs there is, IMO. Because, every single little thing they do will be ANALYZED like hell by their opposing parties. I got so sick of watching that bull shit on "Cross Fire", but that's a show that has just that kind of shit, if you want to watch it. Presidents aren't perfect, some Presidents, like Dubya however, are far, far from perfect. I would now like to call four presidents to your attention. Since I more or less specialize in modern history, let's do it from Chronological order.

Richard Millhouse Nixon

was a fine president, but not a decent man. You all know WaterGate was his downfall, but listen to me about his assets too. Nixon was born into a poor Quaker family. He managed to rise on account of good role models and make it up to politics. He had this horrible WAR with the press, they were on his case ALL the damn time. Richard Nixon first gained prominence with the "HUAC", the "House UnAmerican Committee". He was the bastard that gave Senator McCarthy on his bloody Anti-Communist brigade... Anyway, so Nixon was the one chosen to "root out the communist bastards". And he did well. He gained the support from his collegues and COMPLETELY changed Holly Wood in the 50s, one of the many heights of the COld War. What he did was make deals with directors and movie producers. He targeted THEM because if he even so much as LOOKED at big time stars like Lucille Ball, he'd get his head thrown into a window 0_o. He told these directors that America needed a revamp in Holly Wood. This is why so many 50s movies carry an anti Communist theme.

So what does he do next? He runs for senator, then president... uh, fails, and then tells the press something like "This is the last time you bully Richard Nixon". Okay, I don't think that's right because it is a famous quote, but it's something close. What does he do? He comes back and WINS BIG during the huge LBJ fiasco in the 70s. LBJ was the first president NOT seeking a second term because of the shit he stirred up in Vietman, in case you didn't know. PERFECT oppertunity for an older, wiser , Nixon who lost to Kennedy in the 60s, to RECLAIM this position he's always wanted. Everything was going great for him at first. Let me explain...

SO he eventually takes all the soldiers out of nam and BAM GO HO CHI MINH and Communist Vietman. This was okay for Nixon though, it wasn't before the huge bombings of the Viet Cong trails in Laos and Cambodia that Nixon ordered. Afterwards, he FINALLY started focusing on OTHER more important things. These two reasons are why I respect Richard Nixon as a president: He was the first president in YEARS to open up diplomatic realations with the USSR and China. He had a completely different foreign policy than any other president in that he respected the communists(somehow) and made no hostile moves towards them. So it's because of Nixon, folks, that we get our big Buxxx0rs from China. It wasn't until REAGAN that things managed to FUCK UP.

Let's skip Reagan. This is a new rant all on its own. Reagan was a dick, I think he was a horrible president who had no reason being in office. NEXT

Good ole Jimmy Carter

*sigh*. He was an excellent president. When Americans found out about the Water Gate fiasco, they wanted someone new and fresh and from the DEMOCRAT side of the political spectrum. No one knew who Jimmy was, this was good. He proved to be a calm, conservative man who was into preserving our natural resources... AND his "War On Poverty" aided just millions of impovrished Americans. What happened to this idol of mine? Some of you could guess it: The Iran Hostage Crisis ;_;, where Americans were kept in prison for almost a year. Jimmy couldn't bail them out. It turns out that later, Rweagan negoitiated Weapons with them -_-. This became known as the "Iran Contra Scandal". One of Reagans MANY scandals.

William Clinton

Poor guy couldn't keep his dick in his pants. This was all that came out of this. Stupid bastard republicans had no BUSINESS impeaching him ~_~. I felt so awful when that happened. Clinton is one of my favorite Presidents. He also came from a poor family, with an abusive father from small town Arkansas... but he ROSE, and he did it well. The Camp David Accords, people? Do you even KNOW what those were? *sigh*. You see, Clinton, the president of Egypt, and the president of Isreal all met on Clintons grounds. Negotiated peace between the countries that LASTED. As of right now, Egypt and Isreal are in peace, a great thing from being in off and on war with each other for years. I have sooooo much more praise for Clinton, but I need to be wrapping things up, i need to do some stuff...

*phew* I hope I didn't lose too many of you, heh. Later, people. I hope this was kinda educational for some of you...

shiittt... SO many TYPOS, SO lazy. Sorry, please don't mind them too much, heh
