I've kind of stopped posting in most places and coming online... but I don't think I should stop posting in LJ.

It's [livejournal.com profile] soicjuabba's birthday today! Happy birthday my HOTTT LUVAR. She's 21! How exciting : ).

So I guess I'll post what I did... a month ago!

Shige came over to Santa Rosa with me this one weekend a month ago. It was fun! He really wanted to go to this place, Ft Ross, that I've been to a bunch of times. Did you know Russians used to occupy Northern California? They had a Ft there, Ft Ross, that they occupied for about 50 years in the mid 1800s. Their presence was one reason The US gvt wanted to press on into California. The fort is now a state historic park up in Bodega Bay. Here's some pics.

It was easter the day we went, so there was easter egg painting! We both painted eggs but someone stole Shige's egg! His must have been the best egg out there since someone had to take it. I dropped mine... then ate it :p. It was pretty cool we painted wax on the eggs then dipped them in the dye so the wax part could come off and wouldn't be painted.

Also, it was a special day because once a month this old house is available at Ft Ross for tours! It's called the "Call House" after the name of the man who owned it. We had a tour guide for just us explaining the history of the house and the family members. Call had 6 daughters and 3 sons, I think. And all the daughters lived up in the attic 0_o. He also had this grand piano that was too big to fit through the house, so he built around it, making a special room just for the piano.

Here's us in front of the Call House

Ft Ross is right on the coast, so there is a beach right below it. On the beach there are lots of rocks to climb.

I've climbed them before, but not so far. We made it all the way to another beach! And I scraped my wrist on them : (. Then after climbing up a big hill(at least to me :p) we landed right where the Call House was.

The previous day, there wasn't a whole lot to do so we kind of walked around downtown santa rosa. We did go to the Luther Burbank Home and Garden though : ). Burbank was this famous horticulturalist who lived in Santa Rosa ... also back in the 1800s. He created plants such as the Shasta Daisy and the Spineless cactus! I guess he was famous back in the day because he met people like Edison. There's pictures there with the two of them. He donated a bunch of money to the JC and we DID have this performing arts center named after him, but the name changed now : (.

So here are some pics of that...

Spineless cactus! The biggest cactus I've ever seen actually... hehe

We also wanted to go ice skating but it was so late so instead we went into the snoopy gift shop.

On the way back we hung out with Lans and his friends and Wei-Chen was there too : ). We went to do Karaoke again, but it wasn't drunken karaoke this time, even though their friend Drunken Jordan was around he didn't really sing very much.

Just that one weekend makes for a HUGE post, but I haven't really done much of anything exciting since then.

I have my International Playhouse this year. I'm performing in a scene in the Russian program. We're doing a play based on this famous Russian novel called "Dead Souls" by Gogol. It's a story about this guy, Chichikov, going around in the rural countryside to talk to these famous land owners so he can buy off dead peasant souls from them. I guess he wants to mortgage them and make money off them. There are 4 Chichikovs in our play and I'm one of them. Each Chichikov talks to a seperate land owner. I'm talking to this old lady named "Korobochka"(meaning "little box") and I end up intimidating her by yelling. She's pretty senile and dumb and doesn't get the concept of selling dead souls. There is also this really pompous land owner named "Sobakeivich"(meaning "dog") who wanted to sell the souls for a ton of roubles and ends up talking about how wonderful each dead peasant was... even though they're dead now.

The bad part of this is that I have a 3 day interview every night of the play in San Francisco. The interview is next weekend from 9 am to 5 pm so I have to race back to the play which starts at 8. The interview is for Geos, a big company that teaches English in Japan. If I make it past the 1st day interview, I'd have to construct a 30 minute teaching demonstration. I have no idea how I'm going to do that >_<. It's even worse that I have to stay until 10 pm or later each night for the play but maybe I'd be able to get Saturday off since we won't have time to do all the scenes anyway. I also have an interview with Nova, the worst company I could work for, but supposedly they accept anyone.

I haven't done much lately... just gone to santa rosa a whole lot for various reasons. My apartment got fumigated a couple weeks ago and I stayed in a Santa Cruz hotel. I had to go back and forth to SR to drop off and pick up my fish who would have died from the fumes. This weekend I'm in San Jose and I have no idea what I'm going to do : (. I guess I should study for my midterm in Modern Japanese history class

I don't like my classes this quarter. I ended up dropping Japanese class because I wasn't enjoying it and so now I'm left with 2 classes I don't like and the play. At least the classes are pretty easy...
