Jan. 21st, 2005 10:19 amSean came over last night! It was random and great! I don't get to see him much outside of anime club and I really wish we'd hang out more. We chatted for a while about random things and then I went back to trying to beat Gill(Street Fighter 3rd Strike). Sean doesn't play fighting games much, but It'd be mean of me to just sit there and not let him play, so I gave him a chance at it. We alternated. Bu the end, he learned how to do quarter circle moves! Impressive! It took me longer than that XD. Quarter circles are a hard concept for beginners, really. He was eventually the one to beat Gill using SEAN because he just let time run out XD. It was a great cheap way to do it. It annoys me that Sean(the character) is the only semi-attractive looking dark-skinned person in 3rd Strike. Here is one of them http://www.ociojoven.com/ezimagecatalogue/catalogue/variations/125x500/113964-125x500.jpg . She's freaken ugly! At least I think so. I don't know. Something about her long limbs and her outfit just doesn't strike a chord with me... Also, thong-man Urien is also really ugly. At least Sean is kind of cute. What pisses me off about this character though is that they were TOTALLY unoriginal about his outfit. Sean is apparently really into basketball. This is unique. They could have just given him a jersey and some basketball shorts- a uniform really, and it would have been great! But NO, they just gave him a ripped up karate gi like Ryu and Ken! WTF! Very lame.
Despite Sean's annoying outfit, my views about liking SNK more have switched slightly. Mainly because of 3rd Stike... I didn't play Alpha much, and SF II was a little too old school, even for me. I REALLY like 3rd Strike! It's so fun. And it LOOKS really nice too. I mean, if you compare it with KOF, you can really tell the difference. Capcom sprites look so much better. Titus explained to me why the graphics are better one day. Has to do with Capcom adpopting more of a cartoony look and outlining their sprites. But also the backrounds look better. SNK sprites always look blurry to me, their features really not distinguishable. Overall, Capcom's graphics are MUCH better.
Um, in terms of chracter development, I wouldn't know. I never pay attention to these things. I guess I can ask Titus or read about every backround story. Ryu's story never seems to change, and neither does Ken. Ryu is constantly seeking a stonger opponent to further his skills, and Ken? He's in it because he wants to fight Ryu XD. Gawd Ryu and Ken are so cute <3. In 3rd Strike, Ken became Sean's sensei, though.It's not like KOF has better storylines, though. You don't even get an ending in KOF! How terrible. I don't know, if you look at Capcom's mascot, Ryu, you see his story never changing. About SNK's mascot, Terry(at least it SHOULD be Terry, dammit, SNK can't make up their minds who it is), his does, I think. He always has angsty things happen to him XD. But that was more noted in Garou. But that game sucks... I dunno. Maybe SNK is better here.
One thing that pisses me off about KOF may just be the console I'm using. I can't use the control stick. It's why I've been neglecting KOF all together and just playing Capcom games ^_^*. I hate that D-pad. Rarg. Maybe I can find a better 3rd party one sometime. I've seen it before... I dunno.But it's really PAINFUL. Not to mention I can't use it correctly, so it's even MORE painful.
The thing that has SNK going for me is that they have a much bigger array of cuter characters. Capcom has a LOT of ugly characters, well SNK does too, but I think Capcom has them beat up. And the rest of Capcoms characters are attractive in the "eh" way like Ryu and Sean. I mean, I like to use them because they're good characters, but they aren't hawt enough : (. The only really "hot" characters there are Ken(and he's a movie actor!), Makoto, and Sakura. Ken is especially delicious in SF Alpha III where he grows his air out! *squee*. But Terry has Ken beat out any day. Maybe it's just that SNK has hotter guys... Sakura and Makoto are far cuter than Yuri and Athena. I don't know why I find tomboyish girls with really short hair so cute, they just are! But that's just my opinion, I bet anyone would think that SNK girls are better. Especially when we go with guys and their opinion of Mai. XD.
It's bad to do a huge LJ entry right before you go to class. Waiii. No one will read this either *cries* I was getting used to the huge amount of comments I was getting in the last couple of entries. Oh well.
And I go home today after class. Heh. It'll be fun seeing Alexis and Adrienne. <3.
