LJ-Idol- Introduction

I'm Liza. Been doing this thing since Season 4! I believe I was teaching English over in Japan then. Since then I got a degree in Library Science, moved around to several states, and will probably be moving again. I currently work as an archivist, processing Norman Mineta's congressional papers. He's most well-known for being the Secretary of Transportation and grounding all the planes during 9/11.

I'm really into board games and go to a board game event once a week. Sadly I haven't found a group here to play my favorite kinds of games, which are the really long ones. Arkham Horror and Battlestar Galactica.

ahhhh Betrayal!! I love that game! It was actually the first board game I own : ). I also don't consider it a long game since it lasts about two and a half hours. Maybe long for you? lol. Also can I add you? We seem to have things in common other than liking Betrayal... like Howl's Moving Castle!!

I've never done RPGs before actually. I used to be a snobby nerd and look down on DnD nerds. I try not to now! I'm not sure if it's something I'd like, but maybe something I might want to try some day.

I actually go by Lisa most of the time because people can't pronounce my name. It's "Leeza", short for Yelizaveta (Russian for Elizabeth). Most people pronounce it "Laiza" like Liza Minelli. Your sister is cool in my book, though, even if she's a Liza Minelli and not a Leeza the 90s talk show host (the only Leeza I've heard of here!).

She's actually Liza (like Minelli), but it's short for Lisette. And yeah, she's pretty cool. Only one of us (four) girls to go into the military and she's done a tour in Iraq, and one in Eqypt. I'm a pretty good shot, but she can kick my ass most days. :)

D&D isn't everything, although that's how I started. Maybe it was my gateway drug? ha!
But there are a lot of RPGs that are fun. Paranoia is one of my favorites, and I'm playing in a Star Wars game with some friends from college - when we can manage to get us all together at once! :)

Howdy ho! That must've been some wedding! I missed the whole game craze due to my age, although don't get me near a Ms. Pacman or Skee Ball game! (Hee hee)

You must tell us of Japan. I've always had a roomantic vision of Japanese life and eastern culture that I know is seriously skewed by ignorance! But that's all for later!

Living in Japan was pretty great, gotta say! The job itself had some fun parts, and some annoying parts. I wish I'd stayed longer, actually.

Ah! A fellow board game fanatic! My husband and I do board game stuff all the time. We've got a huge collection and bring games to a ton of local groups in our area.

I haven't had a chance to play those two, since the shorter ones are more popular in our circles, but I've always heard good things about them.

What area do you live in? Do you play any online like on boardgamearena, octgn, or other browser based platforms?

The only online board game I've played is Catan Online. I sometimes like online better because it is much faster. I've never heard of those online board game platforms, but I think it would be fun to try sometime!

Searching for it just now, I discovered it was used in Metal Gear Solid, which is a surprise to me since I just thought of it as "that cool instrumental by New Order."

Yay New Order!!! I really love that band. I got into them somewhat recently, and now they're currently my second favorite New Wave band! I usually like their non-instrumental songs better, but this one was cool! I didn't know they had it in a Metal Gear Solid game.
