"And if she can't make them feel better? She's a failure... or so she thinks of herself."
That's an interesting point. Never thought of it. Certainly, the requirement to be nurturing is higher for females. Although, I would expect anybody to feel bad if they can't cheer up their upset friend.
"No, these scenarios are not absolute"
Heh. Indeed.
"they're more general than is obvious, though"
You may be right about that. Sexism is 90% unnoticed.
"I don't wish I was one of these nurturing females. I think it denotes weakness as well"
Aww, that's just sad. Although, you may be making a good point, despite yourself. Loving someone, needing someone, is weakness. That's why it hurts to love then. Trust is weakness is the basis of all close relationships. ;)
"when I am feeling particularily female, aka, upset over nothing"
Goddamnit. I am the KING of upset over nothing. What the heck are you talking about? :-P
"Really, if you ever came to me with a personal problem I try my best to listen, sometimes I have little to say, but I try my best...."
Ah, I think I am beginning to understand. Really, what else would you do online? Make kissy faces? So, the question is, what would you do IRL? Well, you listen. That's all people ever do, really. But, you can hold them. I am beginning to suspect... that you have a problem, not so much in "acting correctly," but in not understanding. To put it another way.... If you're in love with somebody, the absolute worst way to act around them, to comfort them, whatever, is to think to yourself "how should I act?" Thinking ahead leads to paranoias like yours. ;)
Oh, I guess that's the end. I lost track many times, too. ;)
