Not much to report. Still waiting on Nova :/. It'll either be tomorrow or next week, I think. They seem to like calling on Tuesday. More and more apprehensive.

Somewhat unrelated, but apaprently Mumford and Sons covered Simon & Garfunkel's "The Boxer". I found it today on Huffpost's 71 Cover Songs That Are Better Than the Original

1. Ozzy Osbourne- Crazy Train

Ok I guess this is one of his solo songs, I always thought this was a Black Sabbath song. Shows how much I know LOL. This song is so fun! I love the introduction, the entire song is so profound XD. The only good thing about me being rejected from the Nova position is that I'll get to see Black Sabbath on their Farewell Tour in February. Ozzy probably hasn't been in the condition to perform for years. Drugs are bad, folks... I hope he can bring it out for this concert. We'll see!

2. Steelers Wheel- Suck in the Middle with You

Cute song from a one hit wonder band... I dunno, it feels a little late Beatles to me. And whoever is the singer is a lot like Paul McCartney lol.

3. Twisted Sister- We're Not Gunna Take It

Hah, I've loooooved Twisted Sister for years and years! Really the best glam rock/hair band there is. I love Dee Snyder's antics. The music videos they've done are SO damn funny, and they're just great guys who never took themselves seriously. They like to have a good time. Also their Christmas album they came out with about a decade ago is so amazing! I so gotta share something from there...

Yeah another super silly music vid.

4. The Kinks- Lola

A very nice song. Interesting how big of a hit this became back before anyone really knew trans people existed. I like the story with this one. Also reminds me a bit of Lou Reed's "Walk on the Wild Side".

5. Ritchie Valens- La Bamba

Omg I love this song. One time about a year ago I got super obsessive and I literally memorized the entire song XD;. Justin got so freaken annoyed. He hates repetitive singing, or repetitive anything hah. He was one of the guys who died in the horrible plane crash of 1959 which also killed Buddy Holly : (. TRIVIA- Ritchie didn't even know how to speak Spanish. He was very American. He just kind of came up with lyrics to the popular Mexican birthday song.

6. Doobie Brothers- China Grove

This is my favorite Doobie Bros song because it really is the most CLASSIC rock song they've done. A lot of their songs are quite blusey, which is nothing bad, but I prefer songs that have the China Grove sound to them. A bit more traditional, I guess, but very fun.

7. Fleetwood Mac- Gypsy

I love Stevie Nicks, which a lot of Fleetwood Mac fans would possibly shun me for. They've had a lot of singers, but I think she's the best. She's just so incredibly talented and shows such a free spirit. This song is all about that, having a Gypsy heart and being free.

8. Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers- Into the Great Wide Open

Oh another Tom Petty song I enjoy. Sometimes I feel like I enjoy their slower songs more... this song is just rather pretty and has nice lyrics.

Into the great wide open
Under them skies of blue
Out in the great wide open
A rebel without a clue

9. Rush- Free Will

My very favorite Rush song. This one is a-mazing. I have liked it for years and years. A local radio station used to play a lot of Rush, but it doesn't seem like it any more unfortunately. Great, talented band... the best to ever come out of Canada honestly.

You can choose a ready guide in some celestial voice
If you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice
You can choose from phantom fears and kindness that can kill
I will choose a path that's clear
I will choose freewill

This song seriously just SPEAKS to me lol. I sound kind of like a douche, but the message is just so strong. If you chose not to decide, you still have made a choice! You CHOSE what you do with your life, your destiny is yours to control. I just love that. I mean compare those words to that fucking John Mayer's "waiting for the world to change" ugh.

10. Journey- Faithfully

Have I listed this song before? Maybe, lol, but I gotta end with Journey, and this was the only Journey song that was on today! Journey doesn't have a zillion hits like the Stones or anything so maybe I have to repeat myself. I think this song showcases just how talented they are. It's a very nice song about life on the road and the things you give up. Also the music video is very nice and somehow very un-80s. I'll show it actually. It reminds me a bit of Bob Seger's song "Turn the Page".

I love your lists! They remind me of so much. I used to listen to this music a lot back in the day. I think I don't do it much these days because I got into really bubblegum like pop (Korean) and it consumes my life, but I still love thisssss. I do relate it a lot with way sadder episodes of my life and wonder if that's why I don't actively listen to it anymore (I do belt some crazy notes when I listen to it, and I still have some oldies and rock faves I listen regularly, but back in the day this was what I listened to 95% of the time). I guess I just diversified the genres I listen to and don't have that much time. But yeah, all this talking of things you didn't ask about just to say I love going through your lists :_D

Oh thank you! I'm glad you enjoy it. Our musical tastes change sometimes. My dad used to be really into country, then he got into classic rock, but he always says "I don't like music". I used to only be into 80s for the longest time, but I got into Classic rock maybe sometime during High School and lately especially I've been listening to a lot of it. Tom made me very interested to learn all the artists and under his tutelage I've learned a whole lot! If he had more self-esteem, I think he'd be very proud of all that he taught me lol.
