While I was never really *diagnosed* with ADD, as it was then called anyway before the extra H was added, it seemed to get more and more profound as I got older. Running around the classroom, taking advantage of the substitute... then subsequently getting in trouble when the teacher came back and my classmates ratted me out, turned into finding more and more creative ways to make use of my running around outside time in High School. It was unfortunate that as you go through the educational system, you get less and less time to play outside. Thus I had to be more creative.

There was throwing food at what was dubbed the "splatter wall", then throwing food on the roof.I only went to the principal for that once. This pissed off [livejournal.com profile] zaqqie since it was something that I could give her to eat, yet chose to splatter it on the wall as a daily ritual for a while. I think it was yogurt that splattered the best.

Then there was my most famous endeavor that was so profound that it demanded its own verb: "bushing". This involved lots of running around, throwing backpacks and people into bushes. And doing it with a stick my fellow Bushman called "Excalibranch". In his words: "Bush. Crappy President awesome shrub... thing." It kind of sucked when one of my friends got beat up for shoving this really angry kid into a bush, though.

Before any of that happened though, there was the beginning. There was the magnificent "Raineer Club". In my first year of High School, I met a new friend who was shyer than me, yet shared my enthusiasm for relieving our pent-up energy during lunch. We called each other "Staaa"(her name was Crysta) and "Saaa"(Mine is Lisa), which we would like to squeak at each other, trying to imitate Pikachu.

Making idiots of ourselves was outstanding in any weather, though rain was better than shine. NorCal has a lot of rain during the winter season. While by the time we made the club El Nino, where it rained nonstop for months had been the previous year, it didn't stop us from running around the school everywhere when it did rain. Our favorite thing to do was to jump in very large puddles.

My school essentially had no indoor lunch areas for the students, so those students who didn't find a nice teacher to open up their classroom during lunch, all were crowded under the rafters for their 30 minute misery. Everyone except Staa and I. I don't know how we had any time to eat during our precious 30 minute Raineer meetings, which would always occur during lunch, because we needed sufficient time to get soaked. Our favorite thing to do was to jump in the puddles, or run through them. Some of them seemed more like lakes, really. One day a teacher had passed us as we sat by the office, taking a momentary break. "So did you guys have time to go to a Baptism during lunch?" She asked.

I don't know how, but somehow Sta was more hardcore than I. She would stick her head under the overflowing gutters to get maximally drenched from rain water and who knows what else. While others were laughing at her, I would be laughing with her as I waited for her to run away with me to conquer the next puddle.

Crysta was only with me that one year... She had to switch schools because her brother needed Special Ed classes that my school couldn't provide. I felt very empty and depressed for several weeks my Sophmore year as I realized the only other member of the Raineer Club could no longer be a member. Little did I know in those several dark weeks that better times would come... very soon. I "adopted" several Freshmen and before long, bushing lead us into a terrifically idiotic, yet amazingly entertaining horizon that we ran to with Excalibranch in hand. I just wish the dissidents would stop throwing it on the roof.

Poll is here! : http://www.livejournal.com/poll/?id=1515584 . So far, just about everyone who has taken a "bye week", which means they didn't write an entry for the week, has more votes than me. LOL.

I'm sorry to hear about your son's problems with finding friends. For some reason, due to my own exuberance, I wasn't shy to find friends who accepted me and my wild behaviors. I'd think it'd be easier with boys, who are usually wild to begin with, hehe. I'm sure that he'll find some good friends someday too!
